Aims of the society
Bristol Baltic Society: Constitution
- The Bristol Baltic Society (formerly called the Bristol Latvian Society) has been in existence for over twelve years.
- The object of the Society is the promotion of interest in the Baltic States and an opportunity of people with an interest in the Baltic States or those of Baltic descent to get together.
- A programme of talks and social events is arranged each year. The meetings, about six per year, are fairly informal in character and everyone is welcome.
- The Society has been formed for social and cultural activities and is non-political, non-sectarian and non-profit making.
- At present an annual membership fee of £10 is to cover the costs of hiring a meeting-place and the occasional expenses of visiting The business language of the meetings is generally English.
- The annual general meeting is open to all members who can vote for the officers of the Society and the Committee and advise on the future programme of the Society.
- The Society is not formally linked to any outside organization but has friendly contacts with the Welsh Baltic Society and is in touch with other Baltic societies in Britain, from whom it receives information about various events and activities.
